Profile

Location: Ripon, WI
My Story: Quite simply, I am a pro-environmental libertarian (small 'l' libertarian). I believe that the sole and proper function is to protect the rights of individual American citizens (read our Constitution and you'll see that is its purpose). Whenever any level of government, any corporation, or any organization threatens the liberty of American citizens, it is the right and the duty of all Americans, acting within the Constitutionally delegated powers of government to remove that threat. Clearly, the dependence of this nation on foreign oil and fossil fuels is the greatest threat to our Republic. Our dependence upon foreign oil has involved us in imperial wars, has cost the lives of many thousands of our citizens in respiratory disease and cancer, and has brought terrorism to our shores. We not only have the right to use government to end our dependence upon fossil fuels, we have a moral obligation to do so. I talk about eliminating our dependence upon fossil fuels with great regularity. In fact, I have frequently said that we need to pursue alternatives to fossil fuels with the same dedication that we put into the Apollo project. Quite literally, and this has never been true for me in the past, Governor Richardson's statement about energy took the words directly out of my mouth. Therefore I have decided to endorse and support Governor Richardson's candidacy for the Presidency of the United States, and I urge any American citizen who believes in our nation, in our Constitution to do likewise.
Issues: Energy and Global Warming ; Equality/Civil Rights; Foreign Policy
Registered to Vote: Yes
Party Affiliation: Democrat
Political Identification: Don't label me

To paraphrase Jefferson (one of the founders of the Democratic Party): Whenever any system of government becomes a threat to the liberty of its citizens, they not only have the right, but the duty to replace that government with new forms that will better protect their liberty.
