Help Get Out the Vote in New Hampshire

In the final stretch, we need to make sure our supporters get out to the polls. Please use this tool to call them and remind them to get out and vote.

IRAQ

  • Bill Richardson has a one point plan for the war: End it. He is committed to getting ALL of our troops out of Iraq as quickly as possible – leaving no residual troops behind.
  • He will have all the troops out his first year in office. Senators Obama, Clinton and Edwards won't even commit to having all the troops out by 2013.
  • Bill Richardson believes that we can't start diplomacy until all of our troops out, and once they are out he is calling for a reconciliation process, with an international donor conference and a Muslim peacekeeping force.

NATIONAL SECURITY & FOREIGN POLICY

  • Governor Richardson served as UN Ambassador.
  • He has negotiated with the worst "bad guys" in the world -- including negotiating the release of American hostages from Saddam Hussein.
  • In January 2007 he negotiated a cease-fire between Sudanese President Al-Bashir and key rebel groups in Darfur.
  • In February 2007, he brought back the remains of six American soldiers missing since the Korean War. He also helped negotiate the shut down of North Korea's main nuclear reactor.

ENERGY & THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Governor Richardson has made New Mexico the Clean Energy State and wants to make this a clean energy nation.
  • As Governor, he implemented tax cuts and incentives for new alternative energy sources like wind and solar and created tens of thousands of new jobs in the process.
  • His plan for a "New Energy Revolution" has been called the "most aggressive" by the Sierra Club.
  • Richardson's plan calls for a 50% cut in demand for foreign oil by 2020 and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050.

JOBS & THE ECONOMY

  • As Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson balanced the budget 5 years in a row.
  • Under President Bush, our national deficit has skyrocketed to almost $9 trillion. Under Bill Richardson, New Mexico has grown a “rainy day fund” of almost $4 billion.
  • Bill Richardson's tax incentive and economic growth programs created over 80,000 new jobs in New Mexico.
  • At the same time, he cut $230 million in bureaucratic waste and returned almost $1 billion dollars to working families through tax reductions

HEALTH CARE

  • Without raising taxes, Bill Richardson's plan for universal health care guarantees that everyone will have access to quality, affordable care by letting every American choose to keep their current coverage or set coverage through a well-established program.
  • As President, Bill Richardson will also provide a "Heroes Health Card" so all veterans have access to high-quality care wherever they need it.
  • As Governor, he extended health care to all children under the age of 13 and is working on expanding coverage to all New Mexicans.

IMMIGRATION

  • As Governor of a border state, Bill Richardson has been on the frontlines of the immigration issue. Demonizing immigrants, splitting families, and building walls is not the answer.
  • We need a common-sense approach and comprehensive reform to secure our borders and ports and provide for an effective and humane immigration policy.
  • Governor Richardson knows it is not reasonable to think we can solve this problem by deporting 12 million people. We must implement strong but fair policies that create an earned pathway to citizenship.

EDUCATION

  • In New Mexico, Bill Richardson has made education a top priority as Governor.
  • As President, he will fully fund Head Start, provide universal access to quality pre-K programs, and restore art and music funding to schools.
  • Bill Richardson will scrap No Child Left Behind and start helping struggling schools rather than just punishing them.
  • As President, he will raise the national average starting salary of $40,000 for teachers, hire 100,000 math and science teachers, and expand access to college funding.
