I am not sure how to get this information out to the general public, but I strongly feel there is a media conspiracy against Bill Richardson. They have done their best to not mention Bill in print, TV or radio. With his 4th place finish in Iowa, they have to mention him and in last nights debate he was actually given equal time for the first time, but still the media overlooked him. When George Stephanoupoulos did his roundup, he did not even mention Bill. Please email or call the tv stations and demand equal time for Bill Richardson. In your letters to the editors, please point out the lack of coverage. If all the masses hear is Obama, Clinton and Edwards, they will never think to vote for Bill.
You have just hours left to vote for Bill Richardson in the 2008 Presidential Poll that is located at www.ASHERHEIMERMANN.com/blog before the final results are read live on New Years Eve!

- Joe Biden has 1%
- Chris Dodd has 0%
- Mike Gravel has 11%
- Hillary Clinton has 2%
- John Edwards has 11%
- Barack Obama has 54%
- Bill Richardson has 2%
- Dennis Kucinich has 19%

The final results of this poll will be read on Asher Speaks Live which airs live on Monday, December 31st at 12:30am ET / 11:30pm CT. You can listen to the show live by going to www.BlogTalkRadio.com/asher/.

I am disappointed that the media has only focused its attention on the "front runner" candidate of both parties. The general public is missing an opportunity to learn more about other candidates' views, particularly those that are closely aligned with the majority of Americans. What the media continues to dish out is the same old evasive answers that are being promoted by the front-runners in their attempts to avoid controversy and "play the middle." Granted there are some "fringe" ideas being forwarded, but the media should provide near equal opportunity for Americans to learn about the views and plans of Presidential candidates. This is more important in the 2008 election cycle given the extremely expanded campaign season. The longer campaign should screams for the media to provide more information about many of the candidates instead of the same sound-bites from a few.

Case in point...Iraq and Governor Richardson.   Read More »
I’m American who has been residing in Thailand for the past fifteen years and have heard, not from the Thai people, but from international expats and travelers about their concerns on Global Warming and the US’s lack of enacting policies to address this issue.

It’s a tough battle defending this issue for me, knowing that we failed to sign the Kyoto Agreement years back and also being aware this same agreement will soon expire within the next four years; and the US, to date as not produced an alternative plan to replace the Kyoto agreement. For that fact, I haven’t even heard our present administration evening beginning a plan in earnest to address Global Warming.

I can’t exactly remember how long ago I read the Exxon had one of the largest profit earnings ever in the company’s history, but when oil is near $100.00 a barrel and we may be headed for a recession; I think it’s time a presidential candidate come forward with a sound plan addressing our energy needs and conservation in the future.

What ever plan is implemented, by who ever, is going to hurt and as an American I know I’ll resist the change in my driving habits and perhaps auto performance when a plan is enacted. So, if I’m going to suffer these burdens I want an energy plan that works and I feel Governor Bill Richardson’s plan makes the most sense.

For the moment let’s forget about who is going to be our new president, but instead what issues will our next president have to address during, not his/her first term in office, but instead the “first year” in office.

The American people want an end to the War in Iraq, how’s that going to be attended to, also coming up quickly and perhaps more importantly is Iran, which will really present a strain on our governing bodies, perhaps the military and our economy. Pakistan will also present an additional drain on the president’s time to insure its nuclear resources are not taken over by undesirable elements within the country.

Of all the debates that I’ve been able to see (I’m in Thailand), last night’s debate in Las Vegas was by far the best I’ve seen. The questions were well thought out, the narration was good because the narrators along with the audience made the candidates stick to the questions proposed, and most of all my candidate Governor Richardson sounded, appeared and responded to the questions with direct forward thinking responses, which usually included examples of his experience; in other words – just like a President.

The key points within the debate centered around two issues that are very dear to me, namely, the War in Iraq, since I’m a former Vietnam Veteran and understand what our troops are going through and Health Care, since I’m 59 years of age, and I’m sure some day I will need to rely on a well conceived Health Care Plan, such as Governor Richardson implemented within his state of New Mexico.

What I didn’t like, most of all was Senator Clinton’s answer to the issue of fixing Social Security. “Getting a group of people together in a room to find a solution to the Social Security problem”, tells me the Senator doesn’t have a plan and again like other issues, she’s taking the “wait and see” attitude or “go with the flow”. During this coming election I want to read and judge a candidate’s plan on the each issue that’s important to me, I guess I’m selfish that way, before the candidate gets my vote.

One issue during the debate that I feel needs serious though on is the “Gender Issue”, which Senator Clinton seems to be getting a lot of mileage out of, and that is the old Harry Truman saying of “get out of the kitchen if you can’t stand the heat”. Perhaps humorous today to some degree, and perhaps not even an issue to be considered for those of us Americans who feel a woman is as capable of leadership as a man, but when you’re talking with international leaders where a woman is looked down upon, such as in the Middle East, Asia and Central Asia; “gender” most certainly is an important issue.

Madeline Albright, former Sectary of State and today’s current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have had limited, if any success, in resolving the problems in the aforementioned regions. Again, which candidate has experience in finding workable solutions in those areas and has been nominated for the fifth time for a Nobel Peace Prize, Governor Richardson.

What tonight’s debate has left me with is; I sticking with my choice from day one, Governor Richardson, and I grateful that my country is open minded enough to accept both a woman candidate and an Afro-American candidate for the presidency within my life time.

Bill Richardson for President 2008

The Governor’s Presidential Campaign’s web site is here.

I’ve seen many blogs where there owners copied articles from established web sites, and in some cases implying the scripted content was authored by themselves, which I dislike and disapprove of. It may appear in this posting that I have done the same, which is only partly true.

Currently I am working and residing in Thailand, with plans to return to the states within the coming months and actively campaign for Governor Richardson, in his quest for the Presidency. Since I’m limited to Internet participation only and cannot personally attend formal functions, rallies, or physical assistance; this blog and posting to past along the “Word” is the only way I can provide support to the Governor’s campaign.

Hopefully the readers of this posting will be able to understand what I have personally authored from that of what I have copied from Governor Richardson’s web site or transcribed from the campaign’s posted videos.

My feelings and opinions are my own within this blog; I do not have any affiliation with the Governor or any part of his campaign or members of his staff.

Here’s what I’m following

Just like any dictatorship President Bush uses human's primal fear as a way to control and manipulate the masses. After 9/11 thousands of video cameras were installed across America, wiretapping became a legitimate way to monitor foreign telephone traffic, and information sharing among business and government became all too common. The average law abiding citizen is afraid to scratch him/herself in public in fear of being caught on tape and exploited. The U.S. government has become a paparazzi of sorts, using high tech instruments to watch Americans in the name of national security. The criminals fear not these devices for they are either too stupid to care, or just use disguises and stolen identities to commit their offenses. Although I do see the use in face recognistion systems and scanning machines I feel as though my privacy has been completely erased. To even the odds I suggest that government agencies also be watched by civillians interested in exploiting corrupt and criminal government officials. My suggestion is that cameras be pointed inside the homes of our elected officials and televised for all to see. Transparency in government is key to a public trust which has been lost since the begininng of Bush's reign. Governor Richardson should grasp the opportunity that the movie industry has brought to New Mexico in order to display his own personal and business life to the public for the sake of his campaign. It is my belief that if a real t.v. show was put together with all of the presidential candidates involved Governor Richardson would leap to the front of the polls because of his honest character. It's time to see the true colors of the candidates. We cannot be manipulated by using fear against us. It is the average citizen who has the power and this power can be reinforced through the use of the media. If the government wants to file and code its citizens and then put them on display for all to see, then the officials who decide to take these actions should also be on display for the public to see.
Some how I was under the misimpression that the candidates in next November’s election were suppose to present the voters (us) with their proposals to resolve the issues facing the American people – Someone’s not playing fair.

While president, Bill Clinton was a man to be admired I felt because he took a stance on the problems presented to his administration and I’d like to think and feel the same towards Senator Hillary Clinton, but I’m finding that a bit difficult to do.

The News Media has already chosen the President, with the American people’s blessings. That’s what I understand, so why bother us by going through these “state caucuses”?

Through the News Media’s polls, surveys and “on the street” interviews; News Directors and Producers determine for the American voters which candidate from each party is going to face-off in next November’s election.

In a random Google search I did of Bill Richardson a few minutes ago, I found this from the Cumberland Times News -- a Letter to the Editor supporting Bill Richardson.

With our most of our media reporting online, your letters to the editor are more accessible to the general public. I invite you to write one today, send it to the local paper, and then send me the link to publish it here.

To the Editor:

With the unusually early race for the presidency in 2008, it seems the media had created so-called "rock star" candidates in order to add to the hype. With the likes of Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Barack Obama, Rudy Giuliani, and John Edwards, it is easy to miss the second and third tier candidates that are also in the race for the White House in 2008. One should be wary of not only each candidate's stance on issues but also their experience in dealing with those issues. With most of these candidates, popular or not, holes can be found throughout each resume, with the exception of one.

Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico is a Democrat running for the presidency in 2008. Gov. Richardson's resume is so expansive that it would be very difficult to point to an issue he has not had experience with. As a 14-year congressman, Secretary of Energy, Ambassador to the United Nations, and now popular two-term Governor of New Mexico (A Republican stronghold), it is indisputable that he is in fact the most qualified candidate for the job. To back his experience, he is a moderate and can therefore appeal to a large majority of the country. Richardson won the New Mexico gubernatorial race with 68 percent of the vote for this very reason.

Richardson has many important domestic plans for the country if he becomes elected. Richardson is a rare breed in the Democratic Party. He is a man that is a strong supporter for the Second amendment. He believes gun ownership is a very important right that should not be taken away. He is also opposed to increasing taxes whenever possible. In his first year as governor, he created tax cuts that promoted significant growth and investment in the state. In New Mexico alone, over 80,000 new jobs have been created, and unemployment is the lowest it has been in 30 years. Personal income is rising at near-record levels. Teacher pay and standards have risen, and the overall quality of the schools has gone up accordingly. Richardson balanced the budget for five years in a row.

He also has a very good environmental record. Under Bill Richardson's leadership, New Mexico has become the Clean Energy State. Just this year, Richardson signed a law requiring state utilities to quadruple their use of renewable energy. The state's wind, solar and biofuels industries are booming - creating hundreds of new jobs. And New Mexico has some of the country's toughest greenhouse-gas reduction goals. Bill Richardson's domestic goals will lead this country in the right direction by making it clean and prosperous.

Domestic policy isn't the only thing important to Richardson. Obviously, the foreign policy of the current administration has continued its downward spiral since the invasion of Iraq. Gov. Richardson has had several successful diplomatic meetings with some of the world's most notorious tyrants. In particular, he secured the release of two American civilians in Iraq by negotiating with Saddam Hussein. In 2006, Richardson flew to Sudan and secured the release of National Geographic journalist Paul Salopek. He also spoke to North Korea regarding their nuclear program. This man has proven that military responses are not always the answer and that improving relations with states around the world can be beneficial to the U.S. It isn't a surprise that he has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize four times. In the coming years, strong international experience will be a must for the president, and Richardson's is second to none.

The list of accomplishments by Bill Richardson could go on and on. However, when election day rolls around vote for the candidate who not only talks about the issues, but has actually gotten things done. Don't let mainstream media tell you who to vote for. Do your homework and decide for yourself.

Governor Richardson was on the Stephanie Miller show last Friday. You can listen to the segment here.

Last night, the Governor, was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  It was a great show and check out how Jay introduced the Governor.

"He's the most qualified presidential candidate you have never heard of,"

Nice! Thanks Jay!

It's been a great week for the Governor, and the momentum is building, every time people learn about the Governor's record of accomplishment.

If you missed the Governor last night on the Tonight Show, you can check it out below.

If you didn't watch the Governor on This Week with George Stephanpoulos, you can watch it below.

Virtual ones that is. Since the Governor's appearance on The Daily Show, we've been overwhelmed with positives notes of encouragement and praise. I thought that I'd share some of them with you here:

Brian, from Montgomery County, PA, wrote:

"Very presidential."

Jesse, from Springfield, MA, wrote:

"As a woozy Adriene told Rocky as she was coming out of her coma in Rocky II: "WIN!!!" Strike up the music."

Susan, from Battleground, IN, wrote:

"I first saw Gov. Richardson when he appeared on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos. I immediately decided, this is the guy. He could do it. He is exactly the person for the job. Someone with a plan. Experience. Toughness. And a sense of balance (and a sense of humor) Not one other candidate has all of that."

Charles, from Trenton, NJ, wrote:

"After these years of cringing every time Bush opens his mouth, what a relief to see a ""real"" person, capable of being simultaneously relaxed, serious, unscripted, and unflappable. And he's right: he DOES have the qualities to restore America's reputation and to help being together the factions of the country.

John, from Des Moines, IA, wrote:

"Still my favorite candidate!"

Susan, from Norway, WI, wrote:

"Nice job. It's good to see Governor Richardson getting some media exposure. It is also refreshing to hear a politician back up his statements not with the usual rhetoric but with actual experience. I agree that he is the most qualified candidate in the race."

Kim, from Cotati, CA, wrote:

"Awesome job on the Daily Show Governor! Witty interesting and getting the message across!"

Thank you all for the support, and if you still haven't seen the Governor on the Daily Show, click below.

If you didn't watch the Governor on The Daily Show, last night, watch it now. Guru JW live blogged the Governor's appearance last night saying:

Compared to Dodd, Vilsack, Biden, or any other Presidential candidate on the Daily Show, Richardson by far was the best master of the room. He was funny in an unpredictable way, but not in a way that overshadowed the powerful anecdote he told.

A+ on the appearance for Richardson.

Watch it now!

Governor Richardson is going to be on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart tomorrow night on Comedy Central -- Wednesday, March 28, 11:00 PM ET/PT.

This should be a great event, and a great way for people to get to know the Governor -- tell your friends to watch tomorrow night.

The Governor will be on the Tavis Smiley Show tonight. Click here to check your local listings.
