Giving Thanks.

Today, Thanksgiving, I wanted to kick off my Richardson blog by giving thanks to the Governor for his candor and courage on the issue of immigration.
While the other candidates played the cynical xenophobic card on driver's licenses for illegal immigrants, Gov. Richardson spoke about the issue in the terms of REALITY. It's a public safety and human dignity issue. I wonder if Hillary, or Edwards, or Obama have an answer for the person who his hit on the highway by an unlicensed illegal?
What about the Hispanic Mom who is trying to get her kids to the emergency room or even just get to work?
Statistics point to 10-15 million illegals in the country and they aren't going away. Shouldn't we treat our fellow human beings with some dignity and common sense?
Thank goodness one candidate believes we should!

It is unrealistic and unreasonable. I very much agree with Mr. Richardson's idea on what to do with the 11 million or more. If they've been here and working, and not committing crimes (heaven knows we have enough criminals of our own, we don't have to welcome more!) there should be a way to obtain legal residence. And I don't believe sending the head of household home to wait is the answer -- that would just create a destitute family.
Thanks for your comments,
