Crisscrossing the state on a whirlwind campaign swing, Gov. Richardson won over crowds from the Grand Strand to the smallest county in the state.

Wednesday started at the 2nd Street fishing Pier in sunny Myrtle Beach, where the Governor was greeted by the Myrtle Beach High School marching band and a large crowd of excited Democrats. The next stop was Horne's Motor Lodge in Florence, where a group of Pee Dee Democrats gathered to meet with Gov. Richardson and enjoy the famous buffet. From there, Richardson made the trip to McCormick County, the smallest county in South Carolina. This visit was truly historic, as it was the first time a presidential candidate had ever visited the County and he made the most of it by attending not just one - but two events. The first was the South Carolina AFL-CIO state convention. There, he met with union members and discussed the issues that matter most to working families. The second event was hosted by the McCormick County Democratic Party. After a rousing rendition of the National Anthem by the local high school band, Governor Richardson spoke to the group and shook many a hand. The final event of the trip was held in Aiken, a place that former Sec. of Energy Richardson knows well. In his remarks to nearly 200 supporters, Richardson laid out his agenda for the 1st six days of his presidency.

His swing through South Carolina ended with a standing ovation.
