In keeping with tradition, the voters of Dixville Notch, NH went to the polls at midnight Eastern time. Here are the early results from New Hampshire.

Obama - 7 votes
Edwards - 2 votes
Richardson - 1 vote

While Senator Obama won Dixville Notch, it's important to note that Governor Richardson beat Hillary Clinton and came close to beating John Edwards for second. With results like these, tomorrow is going to be a good day for Governor Richardson.

premature but hopeful?

Uhm. It's not quite 3 in the AM in NH. Are there only less than a dozen folks who vote in that township?

I'm looking at this from Texas. I cannot imagine the entire populace of a place staying up late on a Monday night to go vote.

It might be different there. I claim NH ancestry. I am surely related to anyone who is really from Dover.

I wait with bated breath to hear more.

Yes there are only a few voters in Dixville Notch - 17 to be exact. It is a tradition that Dixville Notch voters cast the 1st in the Nation Ballots for every election, and they stay up until midnight to do so. Rest assured though, they don't always predict the winner of the race. I for one was very proud to cast my ballot this morning before work for Bill Richardson. However, I was disappointed no one was there holding signs for him. It scares me to death to think Mitt Romney will take the state...
