Without a doubt, we have some of the best supporters in the field. Thanks John!--Promoted by Joaquin

Folks,

Iowa is behind us. The rest of the nation is before us. And we have work to do.

The Iowa results did more than you might think if you've watched the national press coverage. It did not annoint Obama, nor did it destroy Clinton's campaign. (I'm still not sure what it said about Edward's campaign).

What Iowa did do - surprisingly quickly, was narrow the field of viable Democratic candidates down to FOUR.

Before midnight, Dodd, Biden and Gravel withdrew from the campaign. (And Kuchinich is Kuchinich - gotta love him.)

On Saturday night there will be a debate between the Democratic Candidates in New Hampshire - there will be only four candidates on stage: Obama, Clinton, Edwards - and Richardson.

On Saturday night, more people will hear more of Richardson than we've heard in previous debates - and I suspect that more people will be paying attention (in New Hampshire and nationally) than have been watching debates to date. There are no longer top- and second-tier candidates. There are FOUR candidates for the Democratic nomination.

So, let's get to work.

If you have any time over the next five days, ANY TIME, make some calls to New Hampshire voters on behalf of Bill Richardson. It's easy to do and the campaign has an easy process to get involved:

If you are heading to New Hampshire for the weekend, God bless you. But if you can't travel, you can have an impact on next week's primary. If you have an iota of belief that Richardson is the best person to take the helm of our nation, please join your fellow Richardson supporters from around the country to make next Tuesday's primary a landmark date in his road to the White House.

John,
This is a great post. I could not have written any better commentary on the status of things coming out of Iowa so I will be re-posting your words over at my Blog, The Left Shue

Better than reported - on to N.H. and Nevada
By Dan Kalb Jan 4th 2008 at 11:07 am MST
Voters in New Hampshire and Nevada need to know that Richardson did far better than the reported Iowa results indicate. Because of the 15% threshold (at the precinct level!), most of Richardson's supporters were essentially undercounted. Richardson probably had around 10% of the total Iowa Dem caucus-goers in the first round which is a more accurate reflection of people's preferences.

We must make every possible push in N.H. and Nevada. Voters need to be reminded that it is Richardson who is not only the most experienced, but also the most electable in November.

I agree

I agree with everything you said however Gravel hasn't dropped out. This morning in my inbox I had an Email from his campaign and he's doing some appearance events in New Hampshire and it had his schedule so I didn't see anything about him dropping out. Good luck to the Gov in Nh!

Important

Dear Richardson campaign,

Please do the following. Most of us will agree that this is what Richardson SHOULD do:

1) ADDRESS THE EXPERIENCE VS CHANGE DEBATE-

This has been constantly debated. But the funny thing is, NO ONE has experience with Biden and Dodd gone. Say that you "need good experience to know what is right and what is wrong. But the funny thing is, I have the most experience here. I was UN Ambassador, I was US Sec. of Energy, I was a Congressman, and I am now a governor."

2) ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS OF THE CAMPAIGN- Seriously, be frank Mr. Richardson. The campaign isn't going the way you want it to be. Say you're not the ideal candidate. Maybe use the quote I created:

"I might not be as charismatic as Barack. I might not be as good looking as John. And I might not be married to Bill. But I get things done. When hostages need to be taken out, I'm there. When 80,000 jobs need to be created, I'm there. When we want to revive economies, I'm there."

3) ADDRESS THE CAMPAIGN'S POTENTIAL- The one thing that I loved that Biden did was say "Be warned Iowa. If you elect me 1,2,or 3, I WILL be your next president." Say something similar.
Show the voters of New Hampshire that their voter won't be wasted. Be frank.

4) CONTROL THE DEBATE- The media sucks. Ok. Let's get over that. If they don't give everyone equal time, Richardson should just barge in and answer questions. This time, no mercy. If the fate of the campaign hinges on it, no time to screw around. The media will try to give you questions that are unimportant, DO NOT LISTEN.

5) POINTS to hammer:
-TAXES/ECONOMY- You're the only tax cutting democrat! USE THIS!
-IRAQ- Call Hillary and John "flip-floppers"!

6) Jokes! Put some in!

IMPORTANT
By User from Fresh Meadows, NY Jan 4th 2008 at 9:44 pm MST
Also Richardson,

MAKE COMPARISONS BETWEEN YOU AND AL GORE.

Say stuff like:

"I might not be the most exciting, but in the end, I'm more Al Gore than Al Gore."

Also, this is probably the most important,:

Address the campaign's potential! People want to beleive you can win the presidency. People want to be motivated to do something great.

You have to create a superb (and short) argument in this debate on why people should listen to you.

"If you want to end this war the quickest, vote for me. If you want to get taxes cut and more jobs, vote for me. If you want experience and change, vote for me. Be warned, if I do well, I WILL catch on."

There's still more to do
By Brenda S. Jan 8th 2008 at 9:48 am MST
John's got it right. Another day, another opportunity. It's Tuesday and the polls are now open in NH.

I'm back in Philadelphia, and today I'm happy to have a chance to tour City Hall, and meet our new mayor. I'm going to wear a Richardson T-Shirt and bring plenty of Richardson baseball cards, because everywhere you go is another chance to show support, be friendly and answer questions about Bill Richardson.

Susan McBride and I came in from from Portsmouth NH after a very intense five days. We canvassed, made phone calls, made door hangers, did visibility, put up signs and lots more. I had made several trips up to New Hampshire starting with the canvass kick off (thank you, John Rice for connecting me with NH Canvass coordinator Marc Herbert)in November. I think I have spoken to at least two thousand voters, and I have faith in many of them. In Berlin, Lancaster, Concord, Laconia, Portsmouth, Dover and Hampton it was really great. I heard from thoughtful voters who researched the candidates and issues, voters who took their responsibility seriously. I worked with brilliant young staffers, and equally brilliant and dedicated volunteers. It has become common knowledge in NH that we have the best take on the issues, are able to engage voters from all sides, have the most diplomacy and humor. We have the best candidate. The horse race/bandwagon mentality promoted by network TV does not reflect reality. We will show well in the small but important state of New Hampshire.

Pennsylvanians are close enough to Jersey and Delaware(with Biden out, Delaware is wide open)to give some time before Super Tuesday. We can make a difference.

When you think ahead beyond the primaries, you know that Richardson can win the general election.

Now is the time for momentum. Hillary, Obama and Edwards won't stop sniping at each other. Bill Richardson's proven executive experience and "greatest hits" (balancing the budget, making New Mexico the clean energy state, creating jobs, raising teacher salaries, insuring all children under 12, etc.) as governor of New Mexico, his diplomacy skills (negotiating the return of the remains of our service men from North Korea, the release of hostages from Iraq and Darfur, brokering a cease fire in Darfur, reducing the nuclear threat from North Korea, etc.)and his dedication to human rights, civil rights, and the environment is unparalleled.

There is no other candidate with as good a proven record of change.

All of us have talents and skills, and most of us are frustrated at some time in life by being blocked from reaching for a goal. I can honestly say that if you make the effort as a grassroots volunteer, this campaign will let you use your talents and skills, and you will feel accomplishment. I have seen it in myself and the others I have worked with.

There is a time for everything, and right now, the whole world is in trouble. We have the candidate with the answers, the experience and the proven track record. Hold an event, raise some funds, write a letter to an editor or a blog. The time to take action is now.
