Governor Richardson,

I just contributed to the fund that you set up to cancel out the debt that has accumulated due to the fact that you ran for the presidency. I was very happy to do so and would be happy to do so again.

I am glad to see that you are discussed as being sought after regarding a possible Vice Presidency role or a possible Secretary of State role (both of which you would perform in an admirable and exceptional manner, though given the fact that the presidency is not within reach just now I think you are most suited for the latter, given your extraordinary foreign policy resume').

I have greatly admired and followed your work since 1995, from both my native United States and from Europe (where I have also lived and worked), and yours is the only candidacy that I have actively supported. As I have previously stated, if you were to run for the presidency at some point in the future, I would gladly support that candidacy, as well.

I want you to know that my lovely wife, who is not American, is also greatly impressed with you, to the point that she recently stated that you were the most impressive of all of the candidates for president in 2008. Obviously, I agree with her.

I will of course support whoever is nominated by the Democratic party as our presidential candidate in this election cycle. But it is nonetheless the case that your candidacy has influenced the overall debate in many positive ways (and at the risk of sounding rebellious, given that I am the son of two social workers, I also appreciate your often politically independent, bi-partisan, geopolitical mindset). I only hope that our party's nominee also realizes and acknowledges the impact that you have had on the race for the presidency.

Thank you for carrying on the vital work that you started several decades ago. There are no perfect people, so it is of course the case that there are no perfect politicians. But, given this fact, it is nonetheless also the case that what you have done in the service of this country and its role in the world is as good as it gets.

Thank you, Governor Richardson.

Sincerely,

Chris
