The campaign for President of the USA could not be more serious, with the choices and stark consequences that face our nation and the world today... but it is my hope we can approach the undertaking with some of the spirit of fun Bill has shown in his "Job Applicant" spots.

Seriously, here is an example of the type of resource I hope members of the group can bring forward to share so we can discuss policy choices in an informed manner:

Link "The Oildrum"

they have a great article today on the convergence of peak oil and GHG emissions...

And they have a great article today on the convergence of peak oil and GHG...

What do you all think?

Not just oil
By Bob Dannenfelser May 30th 2007 at 6:47 pm MDT
I do believe much more focus (read - government initiatives) needs to be made on alternative energy generation to replace coal, oil and gas fired power plants. Oil derivatives, as diesel and gasoline and jet fuel, will be more difficult to replace in inverse proportion to their portability. That is, you can make an automobile run on electricity, but it is harder to make a plane fly on electricity, or ocean going vessels to do the same. But power plants that produce electricity using coal or oil do so because it is just there, without regard to the environmental effect they have. These are what can be replaced with alternative generation methods much easier, and with so much focus on wind, tide, solar and cleaner nuclear reactors, we can achieve significant carbon dioxide emmissions reductions, plus that of other pollutants, in big chunks by making changes here.
